FGS Global, a leading strategic communications and government relations consulting firm, is seeking a sharp and energetic junior government relations professional to join the firms Food & Agriculture practice. This is a great position for a proactive self-starter interested in government relations, supporting a growing team working at the forefront of food, agriculture, climate, nutrition and more. This position will be based in our Washington, D.C. office and follows a hybrid schedule with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office.

**RESPONSIBILITIES
**Administrative support for Partners in Government Affairs Food & Ag Team, including:

  • Manage schedules

  • Prepare expense reports

  • Submit billable hours

  • Handle travel

  • Coordinate internal and external meeting scheduling

  • Prep for meetings/pitches

  • Serve as point person for the Partners and filter internal and external requests appropriately

Support general client work and new business efforts, including:

  • Basic writing and research tasks (including emails, meeting agendas, messaging documents, press materials, client documents, etc.)

  • Develop clips for various clients based on specific interests

  • Assist in drafting front and back end of FGS proposals and decks

  • Research for background documents, etc.

  • Draft memos and letters for clients

  • Take notes at client-related meetings/calls

  • Cover hearings and complete write ups

  • Monitoring Congressional activity on issues of importance to clients

  • Proactively identifying and addressing any immediate concerns or obstacles to ensure workflow moves smoothly

  • Managing sensitive matters with a high level of confidentiality and discretion

  • Responding to requests outside of regular business hours as needed

ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus relevant internship experience

  • Interest in food and agriculture

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Creative thinker excited to join a collaborative group of smart, passionate and highly motivated people

  • Strong writing and research skills

  • Familiarity with social media platforms

  • Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint

  • Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects at once with little direction

  • Strong propensity to think multiple steps ahead and anticipate needs, challenges, and questions

  • Genuine interest in policy and politics generally

  • Ability to act proactively and take initiative to address client and team needs.

  • Ability to exercise intense discretion and confidentiality in a professional manner

  • Ability to adapt to new conditions, assignments and deadlines and apply appropriate judgment; enjoys a challenge

District of Columbia Salary Range

$60,000—$60,000 USD
