Description:

This position will be part of the team responsible for managing all aspects of US direct and indirect tax compliance and reporting, as well as continuous improvement to the processes. In addition, the position will focus on various special assignments on an as needed basis, including tax research, tax data management, and compliance with internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and manage the preparation of US federal and state income tax returns including foreign subsidiary information.

  • Manage overall US compliance for timely and accurate estimates and extensions

  • Support quarterly and year-end effective tax rate and income tax provision process

  • Monitor tax law developments; communicate impact of such changes to management; and propose strategic tax initiatives and process updates accordingly

  • Participate in compiling financial information for strategic analysis for tax optimization positions

  • Analysis of internal restructurings and external mergers and acquisition activities

  • Maintain tax calendar, ensuring all tax due dates are met

  • Support managing IRS and external audits, including preparation of audit responses

  • Assist with preparation of the Global Transfer Pricing policy and documentation

  • Ensure proper documentation is maintained for all internal control functions for Tax

  • Oversee state and local tax compliance including sales and use, gross receipts tax, franchise tax, property, city and business tax, business license compliance, payroll tax and other regulatory requirements

  • Manage and mentor members of the team

  • Various special assignments as needed such as implementation of automation tools to enhance efficiency in the overall accounting and tax process

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (public and industry)

  • Practical experience preparing and filing of direct tax returns

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

  • Master’s degree in Taxation, or J.D. from an accredited institution

  • Prior experience managing and mentoring members of a tax team

  • High level of willingness to continue self-education

  • Excellent computer skills including proficient with Microsoft and OneSource Tax products

  • Familiar with financial reporting software (ERP), ideally NetSuite

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

  • Detail oriented with an ability to understand and work toward the bigger picture

  • A team player that takes pride in not only the individual’s work but the work of the entire group

  • Self-confident and motivated, a self-starter that can work independently with minimal supervision

New York City Salary Range

$120,000—$140,000 USD
