A former professor of philosophy and religion, Andy also worked as a professional jazz pianist throughout the 1970s and '80s. He lives with his family in Manhattan.
A former professor of philosophy and humanities at Columbia University and The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, Andy holds a doctorate in philosophy and religion from Princeton University and is a graduate of Amherst College. He is the author of Comparative Philosophy and The Philosophy of Scholarship, published by Oxford University Press (1990).
After moving from academia into business, Andy worked as an Associate Research Director (Young & Rubicam), Managing Director (Sawyer Miller Group), and Director of Strategic Planning (Bozell) before co-founding ARC Research in 1995. At ARC, he utilized social science research methodologies to inform clients on brand positioning and brand management strategies, helping them better understand consumer behaviors and emerging social trends. He has advised clients in many industry categories, including healthcare, entertainment, fashion and apparel, food, automotive, and banking.
