Metaphore Biotechnologies
The Challenge
Metaphore Biotechnologies, a new venture from Flagship Pioneering, engaged FGS Global Health to develop its brand identity and provide communications support through the company’s public launch. Our task was to communicate Metaphore’s profound — but complex — proposition: new technologies that unlock the therapeutic potential of natural biomimicry.
Our Solution

Just as the wings of an owl butterfly mimic the eye of an owl as a form of defense, Metaphore applies this idea to drug development, using its machine learning-guided platform to design therapeutics using molecular mimics. The FGS Global Creative team drew inspiration from the owl butterfly’s distinctive wing, creating a dramatic contrast within the logotype to evoke biomimicry’s transformative potential. Following logo development, integrated launch deliverables included a complete brand identity, custom videos, website, foundational messaging, media strategy and preparation, and launch day support. Metaphore officially launched in mid-May, 2023.



Custom Art
We partnered with Microverse Studios to create the custom graphic renderings of the four-step proprietary process to interpret the science. In addition to static graphics for use in Metaphore content, we created short animated clips on the website to visually explain the process.
