The Challenge

Monticello came to FGS for help designing a graphic identity for their ambitious capital campaign timed to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the nation.

Our Solution

FGS designed “Face the Future,” a forward-looking campaign identity emphasizing Monticello role as a vital, public laboratory for the American project — a place where Americans come together to deepen their shared commitment to the future of democracy. Using an outline of Thomas Jefferson’s profile as its mark, the identity represents Monticello’s evolution from a historical landmark to a dynamic workshop for
education and civic engagement. The concept naturally lends itself to portraiture, a medium through which we can see America today in all its diversity. FGS designed a style guide for Monticello to apply to its capital campaign materials.
