Lars Anderson is a Partner in FGS Global’s Strategic Communications Division, based out of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Lars draws from his decades of experience at senior levels in government, the military, and international assignments to assist clients in crisis, issues management, messaging and media strategy. Lars has led teams of media professionals, in government and the corporate sector, to successfully execute media outreach through messaging development, strategic counsel, and rapid-fire issues management.

Prior to joining FGS Global, Lars Anderson founded BlueDot Strategies, an all-service communications firm that advised numerous clients on crisis communications, message development, and media engagement.

Before founding BlueDot, Lars worked at several U.S. government agencies, for a variety of elected officials, and with both corporate and non-profit clients. Lars has held several senior-level appointments in the Obama Administration, including at State, USAID, DoD, and most recently as the deputy chief of staff and counselor to the administrator at the Federal Emergency Management Agency. On Capitol Hill, he served as the communications director for U.S. Representative Adam Smith.

Lars began his communications career in the U.S. Air Force as a Public Affairs Officer and served as the NATO spokesman in Bosnia-Herzegovina during a period of heightened tension.

Lars earned an MIPP from George Washington University’s Elliot School of International Affairs and a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy. Originally from Seattle, he lives in the historic Shaw neighborhood of D.C. with his partner and their rescue dog, Jane.
