Frankfurt, 18.05.2021: Bloomberg’s German Bureau Chief becomes a Partner in the capital markets team of Germany's leading consultancy for strategic communications

Finsbury Glover Hering continues to grow and is pleased to announce another top-level addition to the team: Daniel Schäfer (45) joins Germany's leading consultancy for strategic communications from Bloomberg. He will join the 17-member Partner group and thus the leadership team of Finsbury Glover Hering in Continental Europe (Finsbury Glover Hering Europe) on August 16. With his expertise in international financial markets and his many years of journalistic experience, he will strengthen the firm’s capital market transactions, financial communications and investor relations capabilities.

Alexander Geiser, Global CEO of Finsbury Glover Hering, comments: "In the past 20 years, we have hardly ever advised on a M&A transaction that Daniel or his team have not reported on – be it for F.A.Z., the Financial Times, Handelsblatt or most recently for Bloomberg. Our clients value seamless and nuanced advice on complex, international capital market issues, hence Daniel will be a great asset to them. It’s a great pleasure for our team and me personally to welcome such an internationally experienced journalist to our ranks.”

Daniel Schäfer has worked as a journalist and media manager in Frankfurt and London for more than two decades. Most recently, he led the German bureau of Bloomberg News and was responsible for the media group’s three German sites with nearly 60 employees. Previously, he worked as finance editor and Frankfurt bureau chief at German daily Handelsblatt and as correspondent for Germany and banking reporter for the British Financial Times in Frankfurt and London. He started his career as a banking and business reporter at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

"After many years in journalism, I am looking forward to leveraging my international expertise to provide strategic counsel to companies navigating a range of capital market challenges. Finsbury Glover Hering is a world-class inter-national communications firm and I believe my expertise in the German and English media landscape is a perfect fit. I cannot imagine a better place to work for than the outstanding team of Germany's leading communications and strategy consultancy", explains Daniel Schäfer.

Daniel Schäfer has received several awards for his work as journalist and author, including the German Journalism Award, the Sponsorship Award of the Ludwig Erhard Foundation and the German Business Book Award for his book on how financial investors are transforming Germany. He studied communication science and international relations at the University of Hohenheim and the University of Kent in Canterbury.
