Irina von Wiese becomes Senior Advisor in EU team of Finsbury Glover Hering in Brussels

  • Experienced EU politician and lawyer joins Brussels team for European Government Relations, Policy and Advocacy as Senior Advisor

  • Strengthening of expertise in cross-border competition law, in particular in the area of mergers and direct investments

    Irina von Wiese (53) will join the European Government Relations, Policy and Advocacy team at Finsbury Glover Hering in Brussels as Senior Advisor from September 15, 2021. As a dual British and German citizen, she has many years of international experience as a lawyer, academic and politician on European level. At Finsbury Glover Hering, Irina von Wiese will contribute her expertise in competition law, particularly in the areas of merger control and foreign direct investment screening. Furthermore, she will advise clients on navigating the European political context – including in the area of ESG.

    From July 2019 to January 2020, Irina von Wiese sat in the European Parliament for the UK Liberal Democratic Party, where she acted as Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights and as a member of the cross-party Working Group on Responsible Business, which focuses on the social sustainability of international supply chains. After Brexit, she continued her political work as a freelance writer for the European Liberal Forum and taught EU law at the French University of Paris Dauphine. Prior to her political career, she worked as a competition lawyer for various companies and organizations for many years and is considered a leading expert on policy and regulation in the information and communications technology industry.
