
FGS Global (“FGS”), a leading global strategic advisory and communications firm, today announced Jeff Hantson has joined as a Managing Director in the Washington, D.C. office. Hantson brings extensive policy and legislative expertise to the firm having served as the Deputy General Counsel for Ranking Member Richard J. Durbin (D-IL) on the Senate Judiciary Committee, where he led the Committee’s efforts related to antitrust, bankruptcy, intellectual property, technology, and kids’ online safety.

Prior to being promoted to Deputy General Counsel, Hantson served as Senior Counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee. He also previously served as Senior Counsel and Law Fellow for Senator Mazie K. Hirono (D-HI), where he led efforts to strengthen patent protections and expand access to the patent system and helped managed the Senator’s work on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Hantson also served as an associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr, where he represented clients in the pharmaceutical and high-tech industries in patent disputes before district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board; as a federal law clerk; and as an associate at Bingham McCutchen. In addition to being a lawyer, Hantson is an electrical engineer and worked in the Missiles & Fire Control Systems Division at Lockheed Martin, where he managed the GPS receiver redesign for the JASSM cruise missile.
Hantson graduated, cum laude, from Cornell University with a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center.
