FGS Global, a leading communications and government affairs consulting firm, is seeking an insightful and sharp Strategic Communications professional to join the firm’s Entertainment Practice. This position can be based in our Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. or New York City office.

This Associate position is a unique opportunity for someone interested in communications, public relations, press engagement and crisis management to develop research, writing, media and project management skills at a prestigious firm with high-profile clients in the entertainment and media space. This position requires a proactive mindset, good judgment and a high degree of confidentiality.

As the conversation around content now extends well beyond traditional entertainment channels, FGS draws on our record of managing complex issues to help our clients reach their audiences. For well over a decade, we’ve worked with movie studios, filmmakers, producers and entertainment / media organizations to promote content, create issue-based partnerships, amplify messages and navigate the shifting landscape of government, business, NGOs, the media and the public.

In this role, you will:

  • Work effectively as part of the team to support the communications staff of numerous clients in the entertainment / media sector

  • Research concepts and content on a quick turn, including media monitoring (both traditional and social media) and analysis

  • Use refined research skills to assemble strategy and research memos

  • Write and edit high-level documents, focusing on strategic thinking and clear, concise grammatical style

  • Support the team in develop traditional, digital and social media strategies

  • Develop pitches and engage in media outreach across print, online and broadcast media

  • Provide administrative support to the Entertainment Team, including scheduling meetings, taking notes, occasionally helping to plan team functions, etc.

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (a plus if it is in a related field such as communications, English, journalism, political science, entertainment, media or business)

  • Internships or previous experience in public relations, corporate communications, journalism, politics, and entertainment / media are encouraged

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required

  • Knowledge of / interest in entertainment and media preferred

  • Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and urgency for job responsibilities; action-oriented and self-motivated; willing to take initiative to suggest to ideas, opportunities and strategies

New York City Salary Range

$70,000—$70,000 USD
