The Position:

Director, Private Capital, Financial Communications

FGS Global is seeking a mid-career professional specializing in private capital to join our Transaction and Financial Communications practice in our New York office.

While the individual will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of matters, we are specifically looking for individuals with in-depth expertise in alternative assets (e.g., private equity, private credit and/or infrastructure) who excel at building trusted client partnerships and delivering high-impact communications strategies for private capital firms and their portfolio companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide counsel and insight to clients on communications regarding high-stakes situations including transactions, crises and sensitive issues, leadership transitions, and others, as well as on ongoing strategic positioning.

  • Design and lead multi-faceted strategic communications and media relations programs for clients primarily in the private capital sector, ensuring campaigns are results-driven and aligned with client objectives.

  • Leverage established media and/or conference relationships to secure high-value coverage and elevate clients’ profiles across key financial and trade outlets.  Stay close to key media covering the space.

  • Function as an account project manager, including assigning responsibilities, anticipating account needs and ensuring activities are completed on-time, while providing strategic and tactical support to senior team members.

  • Mentor, coach and educate junior colleagues to strengthen their media relations and client service capabilities, specific to serving our private capital client base.

  • Stay at the forefront of trends, developments, and regulatory changes impacting the private capital markets, ensuring clients benefit from timely, informed counsel.

  • Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and contributing to the growth of our private capital practice.

Qualifications:

  • 7 - 10 years of relevant experience in private capital communications, financial PR, or a related field.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Client focused, with a high bar for quality and results.

  • Outstanding writing skills, including excellent proofreading skills.

  • Highly collaborative, with strong communications skills, and able to work well in teams.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills, and an ability to seamlessly balance multiple assignments and client situations simultaneously.

  • Confidence and presence to work effectively with senior members of account teams and client in high-stakes situations.

  • Proven track record of securing impactful media coverage and managing relationships with top-tier journalists.

  • Well-rounded, adaptable, and detailed-oriented individual comfortable working through challenges.

  • Solid judgment and the capacity to accurately assess complicated situations and ask the right questions.

  • Highly motivated and calm under pressure.

This position requires the ability to work outside of normal office hours, including nights and weekends, when business needs arise.

Candidates must have US work authorization, and not require work visa sponsorship now or in the future.

New York City Salary Range

$145,000—$175,000 USD
