Managing Director, Sustainable Business

FGS Global is a leading strategic communications consultancy. Our Sustainable Business practice helps clients win the support they need to transform their organisations and markets to accelerate the shift to a more sustainable economy. We work with leading international businesses and start-ups, UN Special Envoys, coalitions and campaign groups. To help them make a difference, our global team brings together experts in sustainability, capital markets, public policy, employee engagement, stakeholder research and data analysis. We are now looking for a Managing Director with demonstrated ESG and sustainability expertise to join the Sustainable Business team to support our growth in London.

Managing Directors in the Sustainable business team:

  • Design, direct and deliver projects to help clients win the stakeholder support needed to implement their sustainability strategies, succeed commercially and strengthen their reputations.

  • Advise C-Suite executives – helping them set priorities as regulation and stakeholder expectations change.

  • Identify new business opportunities and develop effective pitches and proposal to drive revenue growth.

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to provide clients holistic communications and engagement advice.

  • Manage client relationships and ensure high quality service.

  • Develop thought leadership and marketing to build the profile of the FGS Global’s Sustainable Business team.

  • Coach junior team members to develop new skills, monitor their performance, support their development and help manage their career growth.

We are looking for leaders with experience of:

  • Developing 360 sustainability communications and engagement campaigns informed by data.

  • Integration of  sustainability into company equity cases, optimise guidance and boosted ESG ratings.

  • Development of signature sustainability commitments, programmes and partnerships.

  • Influencing sustainability policy and standards.

  • Generating and winning new business and delivering revenue and margin growth.

  • Created inclusive, high performing teams.

Necessary attributes:

  • 10+ years’ experience in communications, with strong technical expertise and track record sustainability.

  • Strong understanding of ESG landscape, investor expectations and what influences company valuation.

  • Well networked amongst leading businesses, civil society and NGOs and industry influencers, including the media.

  • Ability to evaluate and assess client commitments, performance and partnerships.

  • Enthusiastic team player and ability to manage a team.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset for a fast-growing team.

Skills:

  • Leadership of diverse teams in complex and ambiguous strategy engagements.

  • Strong presentation skills, analytical thinking, and creative flair.

  • Excellent written English.

  • Ability to deliver to a deadline and budget.

  • Ability to identify, pitch and win new business.

  • Organised, efficient, takes ownership, trusted to deliver to deadline.
