AJ brings nearly 11 years of experience in congressional operations, policy advocacy, and federal campaigns. He most recently served as the Senior Advisor for U.S. Representative Don Davis (NC-01) and previously served with G. K. Butterfield (NC-01) for nearly 10 years, serving as his Deputy Chief of Staff.
For years, AJ was instrumental in the strategy and operation of a congressional office that helped secure millions of dollars in federal funding for community projects throughout eastern North Carolina. While serving with Congressman Butterfield, he col-ed the Congressional Black Caucus' TECH2020 initiative that advocated for diversity in the technology industry and strategically found legislative solutions to help achieve that. Since 2015, AJ also serves in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Born in Philadelphia to Isidro and Cynthia, AJ is the oldest of four siblings. He is the proud father of his son, Kru.
