Andrew Overton is a Managing Director on FGS Global’s Strategic Communications Energy & Sustainability team. Andrew brings a decade of experience leading strategic communications campaigns on national security and climate issues for foreign governments and environmental nonprofits.
Andrew has a deep understanding of US media, and he played an important role in planning the 2020 Democratic National Convention as it pivoted to an almost entirely virtual format. Andrew spent over six years at the British Embassy, managing the embassy and ambassador’s public response to the 2015 Iran deal, 2016 Brexit vote, and 2018 Skripal poisoning. After the British Embassy, Andrew moved to Chesapeake Bay Foundation. As their Senior Communications Director, he led a revamp of messaging and marketing efforts, and he developed new communications strategies to recruit and organize the next generation of climate advocates.
Andrew has a MA in International Relations from American University and Bachelor’s Degrees in Communications and Political Science from Marist College. He was the first non-British resident to be accepted to join the UK master's-level program for senior government communicators.
Andrew is a pop music aficionado and aspiring gardener. He lives in Northeast Washington, D.C. with his wife Chelsea and two cats Elvis and Sprout.
