Barney Gimbel is a Partner at FGS Global, where he advises corporations and institutions on high-stakes challenges, with a focus on crisis management, litigation, corporate transformations and complex cross-border transactions. Over more than a decade at FGS, he has counseled directors and C-suites through federal investigations, multi-billion dollar settlements and existential issues across multiple industries including healthcare, defense, aviation and space, agriculture, energy and natural resources.
Before joining FGS Global, Barney worked as a reporter, government official and investment banker. He was most recently a Director at Hannam & Partners, a London-based merchant bank, where he founded the firm's sovereign advisory practice and advised clients on transactions in the natural resources and transportation sectors.
Prior to investment banking, Barney worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as Special Assistant to Deputy Under Secretary of Defense Paul A. Brinkley, who led the Pentagon's economic stabilization efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. He ran the program's foreign direct investment initiatives, coordinated intra-government relations and managed the team's media relations program. After government service, he returned to Iraq to set up a Pritzker Organization investment fund that built businesses in the country's oilfield and transportation sectors.
Barney started as a business reporter at Newsweek and Fortune. He holds a Master's degree in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Emory University. He lives with his family in Brooklyn, New York.
