Life Beyond FGS Global

Family, reading, and writing.

Carter Eskew has 40 years of experience in developing and managing high-profile, complex communications and advertising campaigns, first in politics and now for corporations and non-profits.

His political career began as a press secretary in a 1980 U.S. Senate campaign and included 18 senatorial and gubernatorial campaigns as a media strategist and culminated in being the Chief Media Adviser to Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign. Along the way, he had a series of meaningful partnerships and businesses including, Squier-Eskew-Knapp, (now SKD), Grunwald-Eskew-Donilon and Bozell-Eskew, an advocacy advertising agency.

In 2001, he conceived a new business, The Glover Park Group, based on a combination of political and corporate communications skills, and became a founder of that enterprise. While at GPG he helped run some of the firm’s major accounts for Fortune 100 companies, led the creative and advertising group and helped foster innovation as the firm adapted to the impact of digital on all aspects of communications.

At FGS Global, he serves as Global Co-Chairman of the firm, continues to lead major accounts, and foster integration and innovation across the firm’s deep and diverse skill sets. Through rapid change, certain principles still guide the work: curiosity, openness to being wrong and a drive to win.

Carter has a BA from Yale and an MA from the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
