Through her career in government and at FGS Global, Catharine Ransom has worked on almost every major issue and policy debate related to energy, the environment, sustainability and infrastructure. From the raging political fight over the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) to recycling and the circular economy to securing federal permitting approvals for infrastructure projects, Catharine has unparalleled expertise on a diverse set of issues as well as the network and political experience to advance her clients’ interests.

At FGS Global, she manages highly public, integrated advocacy campaigns; provides political intelligence, counsel, and direct lobbying; designs thought leadership and corporate reputation programs; and performs transactional due diligence and risk assessment.

Catharine is a Hill veteran, having served for close to a decade in the U.S. Senate, as Senior Policy Advisor to Senator Max Baucus (D-MT); the Committee on Environment and Public Works for Senator Jim Jeffords (I-VT); and Senator Bob Graham (D-FL) managing environment, energy, natural resource, infrastructure and agriculture legislative portfolios.

Prior to her time in the Senate, Catharine worked for the Chief of Naval Operations, focusing on climate change and ozone-depleting substance elimination.

Catharine has served as President of the Board of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Women’s Energy Network.

Catharine graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Penn State University with a BA in Economics, and she received her Master’s Degree in Environment and Energy Engineering Management from The George Washington University. She is conversant in Spanish.
