Dan Watson is a Managing Director in the Strategic Communications Division. He joined Finsbury Glover Hering with a decade of experience in politics and communications, including five years in senior communications roles in the Obama Administration, most recently serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Treasury. During his time at Treasury, Dan coordinated communications on high profile financial and economic issues, including the Puerto Rico debt crisis, cybersecurity in the financial sector, debt limit impasses, and consumer and retirement policy issues.

Prior to Treasury, Dan was the Associate Director of Public Affairs and Press Secretary at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In this role, he served as the agency’s primary national spokesperson for more than 200 federal disaster declarations, including the federal government’s response to Hurricane Sandy. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Dan worked on Capitol Hill for Senator Tom Udall as Press Secretary and Online Communications Director.

Dan started his career in politics working on the yearlong preparations for the 2008 Democratic National Convention in Denver and the Obama for America campaign.

Originally from England, Dan grew up in Denver, Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with degrees in International Affairs, Economics and Journalism. Dan lives near Washington’s Eastern Market with his wife, Abbey.
