Life at FGS Global

Doug leads operations for our Geopolitical and Policy Risk Advisory practice, aligning strategy, allocating resources, and ensuring connectivity between our global geopolitics and policy risk teams to ensure clients have a deeper understanding of how geopolitical events impact their businesses.

Life Pre-FGS Global

Prior to joining FGS, Doug completed an MA at Johns Hopkins SAIS and an MBA at INSEAD. Afterward, he was a strategy consultant for Siemens in Berlin and Munich, after which he joined Eurasia Group in London. Doug spent six years as a diplomat focused on emerging tech at the U.S. Department of State.

Life Beyond FGS Global

Doug loves to run, golf, and watch movies. He's an avid amateur chef and enjoy going on overseas adventures with his wife.

With a career spanning strategy consulting, geopolitical advisory, and diplomacy, Doug has built expertise at the intersection of technology, business, and global affairs—a nexus that has never been more critical for organizations navigating today's volatile landscape.

Doug leads operations for FGS Global's Geopolitical and Policy Risk Advisory practice, aligning strategy, allocating resources, and driving connectivity across our global teams to deliver integrated insights on how geopolitical shifts reshape business environments. The team's most valuable strategic guidance synthesizes political risk, technological disruption, and commercial imperatives into actionable frameworks.

Doug's international experience runs deep: he's lived and worked in 10 countries, traveled to more than 80, and speaks five languages. This global perspective was sharpened by an MBA from INSEAD and MA from Johns Hopkins SAIS, followed by two years as a strategy consultant for Siemens in Berlin and Munich, where Doug helped navigate complex regulatory environments across European markets. At Eurasia Group in London, Doug focused on business model innovation for political risk while building the firm’s corporate advisory on geo-technology. He then joined the U.S. State Department as a foreign service officer, where he was focused on critical and emerging tech and gained ground-level understanding of how governments approach tech policy and strategic competition.

An obsessive reader, Doug is constantly absorbing perspectives on everything from semiconductor supply chains to AI governance.

Outside work, you'll find Doug running, golfing, experimenting as an avid amateur chef, or catching up on movies with his wife. These pursuits underscore his belief that the best strategic thinking often happens away from the desk.
