Life Beyond FGS Global

Proud Penn Stater, former competitive skier, amateur interior designer.

Elly Burke, a Managing Director on FGS Global’s Health team, honed her communications expertise working on some of the most significant health and public health efforts of the last two decades—including smoking cessation and prevention, passage of the Affordable Care Act, food and nutrition, obesity prevention, and COVID-19.

At FGS Global, Elly leads complex communications efforts for health systems and academic medical institutions, integrated health providers, and health-related non-profits, coalitions, and tech start-ups. Her work is often focused on corporate reputation, navigating complex moments, executive positioning efforts, and policy communications.

Before joining FGS Global, Elly served as Director of Communications and Marketing for the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), part of then-First Lady Michelle Obama’s work to end childhood obesity. She helped build PHA’s communications and marketing shop from the ground up, overseeing daily communications strategies and working closely with PHA’s private sector partners to make healthier choices easier for busy parents and families.

Earlier in her career, Elly led media relations strategy, messaging, and reputation management efforts for AARP’s health products, international programs, and charitable and volunteer initiatives. She began her career on the agency side, where she managed communications efforts for non-profit and government clients focused on smoking cessation and prevention, obesity prevention, addiction support, and infectious disease.

Elly holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from George Mason University and Bachelor’s Degrees in Journalism and International Politics from Penn State.
