As a Managing Director at FGS Global, Kristin Smith specializes in strategic communications, reputation building, crisis communications and employee engagement for corporations, non-profit organizations and academic institutions. In this capacity, she counsels clients on a range of communications strategies incorporating executive visibility strategies, thought leadership programs and digital and traditional media relations.

Kristin co-leads the Education sector team in North America helping public, private and nonprofit institutions touching every part of education – from early childhood to higher education – navigate highly complex issues. She also leads the North America Employee Engagement & Workplace Issues practice area focused on supporting clients to strengthen engagement with their employees and managing reputational issues related to the working environment.

Prior to joining FGS Global, Kristin worked for the New York City Comptroller’s Office serving as Special Assistant and Chief of Staff to both the Comptroller and First Deputy Comptroller. In her project management capacity, she focused on supporting the City’s five pension funds, contract administration and audit organizations. Prior to the Comptroller’s Office, Kristin worked at Citigroup in Global Community Relations serving as Chief Administrative Officer, responsible for strategic planning, budget and reputation management.

Kristin holds a Master’s of Human Resources and Industrial Relations degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Louis University.
