Life Beyond FGS Global

Marc and his wife have three young daughters who keep life busy. From chauffeuring them to basketball, volleyball, and dance, to spending weekends skiing and biking in Fernie, there is rarely a quiet moment. When he does find one, he's usually watching his Vancouver Canucks disappoint him.

Marc Douglas is a Managing Director in FGS Longview’s Public Affairs practice, advising governments, corporations, and institutions on navigating complex political and regulatory environments. He brings deep expertise in global government affairs, new market entry, stakeholder engagement, and policy risk assessment, and has advised clients across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific, helping them build the political capital and stakeholder relationships needed to operate with confidence in high-stakes markets.

That experience gave Marc a perspective few advisors can offer: an understanding of how large, complex organizations engage with governments and manage regulatory risk from the inside. Having operated across multiple jurisdictions with competing political interests, he brings clients a practical grasp of the pressures that shape government decision-making and the stakeholder dynamics that determine outcomes. Today, he applies that lens across a broad range of industries, helping corporations and institutions anticipate political risk, build durable relationships with decision-makers, and navigate the regulatory environments that define where and how they can grow.

Before joining FGS, Marc held a number of senior roles at a Fortune 50 energy company, where he developed firsthand experience navigating the policy and regulatory challenges facing global energy businesses. He began his career in British Columbia provincial politics, serving as Chief of Staff to the Ministers of Environment, Aboriginal Affairs, and Public Safety.

Marc holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Dalhousie University and a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution from the University of Bradford.
