Public affairs expert with 15 years in health policy and healthcare/life sciences. Extensive experience in legislative processes from work in the German Bundestag. Prior roles include policy and communications, collaborating with leading industry innovators and associations.
Passionate about politics and history, he is actively engaged in promoting transatlantic friendship and spends his free time exploring Berlin’s vibrant cultural scene - from museums and theaters to opera. He is also an enthusiastic runner.
Mike Schuster is a Managing Director in the Corporate & Public Affairs Strategies Practice at FGS Global’s Berlin office. He brings more than 15 years of experience in healthcare policy, public affairs, and strategic communications at the national, European, and global levels.
Mike specializes in issues at the intersection of science, policy, and society, with a particular focus on biotech, innovation, and the governance of emerging health technologies. He has led high-impact engagement with EU institutions and national governments, built multi-stakeholder coalitions, and supported executive teams in positioning on major health and industrial policy files.
Prior to joining FGS Global in 2026, Mike held leadership roles at BioNTech, where he contributed to the company’s public affairs strategy and stakeholder engagement. Earlier in his career, he worked in government affairs at AbbVie, and as a policy advisor for the German Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (vfa). Mike also gained extensive experience in the German Bundestag, serving as a policy advisor in the office of Jens Spahn, and held further roles within the CDU/CSU parliamentary group and the CDU national headquarters.
Mike studied Cultural Studies (History/Philosophy) and is fluent in English with additional proficiency in French and Italian. He is a member of the expert network “NextGenGesundheit 30under40” at the Health Transformation Hub of the Bertelsmann Stiftung and is also an alumnus of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).
