As a Partner and Co-Head of the Japan Office, Minako Hattori brings a proven track record in managing communications issues for clients, including reputation management, M&A & IR communications, crisis & issue management, and media relations. She also leads the Japan media training practice and has built an extensive track record of training corporate executives in Japan.

Before joining FGS Global in 2019, Minako served as Head of Marketing & Communications at J.P. Morgan in Japan where she managed overall communications activities for both internal and external stakeholders. She was previously a partner at Kreab Gavin Anderson where she led the financial communications practice and advised on numerous M&A deals and crisis situations.

Earlier, Minako worked at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, initially in equity research, and later joined the investment banking team where she managed investor communications while covering general industry. This followed a position at the Embassy of Switzerland in Tokyo in charge of Industrial and Scientific Affairs. She started her career as an equity researcher at Jardine Fleming and Morgan Stanley. She passed the US CPA exam in 1999.

Minako graduated from Tsuda University with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations. Currently, she is an adviser to “Social Investment Partners” which advises Japan’s first venture philanthropy fund and “Music Dialogue” which helps young talented musicians and educates audiences through chamber music.
