Nyssa Kourakos is a Partner in FGS Global’s Miami office. She is a veteran communications strategist with over 30 years’ experience helping corporations, non-profits and individuals articulate their strategy and investment stories to global audiences, navigate challenges and crises, and strategically amplify their reputation in support of business objectives.
Nyssa’s media expertise, facility with complex, issues-driven messaging and strong client relationships have contributed to successful strategic communications campaigns across a range of sectors, including academia, energy, investment management, health care, hospitality, retail, talent and transportation.
Prior to joining FGS Global’s legacy firm in 2003, Nyssa was embedded inside media through senior communications roles at CNN, the network’s financial news channel CNNfn, FORTUNE, and digital media pioneer Verticalnet, Inc. Nyssa got her start in public relations at global giant Burson-Marsteller in New York. She began her communications career in Washington, D.C. managing constituency communications for the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and supporting congressional media campaigns and political action committee fundraising efforts while at political consultancy Austin-Scheinkopf.
Nyssa received her B.A. in Political Science from Duke University in 1990. She serves as a Trustee of the Central Park Conservancy’s Women’s Committee and Saint David’s School in New York City, and is a member of Duke University’s Annual Fund Advisory Board, the Duke Women’s Impact Network, and the American Journalism Project’s Local News Steering Committee in Miami.
