He joined FGS Global from the UK Government where he worked as the Chancellor of the Exchequer's Head of Business Engagement. Prior to this he served as the Business Relations Adviser to the Shadow Chancellor in the lead-up to the 2024 General Election, playing a leading role in strengthening the Labour Party's relationships with the private sector.
Oliver's experience in government also includes roles at the Department for Exiting the EU, where he was responsible for the department's engagement with the aerospace, defence, automotive and chemicals sectors, and at the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) where he was the Head of Business Engagement. Beyond his government experience, Oliver was the Aerospace Policy Adviser at the UK's leading Aerospace and Defence trade association, ADS Group. In this role he helped the UK aerospace sector influence and digest the outcome of UK-EU negotiations on the post-Brexit aviation safety arrangements, respond to and recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and develop its decarbonisation commitments.
