Phil Caruso is a Director in the Chicago office. He counsels clients and develops strategies to mitigate high-stakes situations involving crises, litigation, workplace, and reputational matters.
Recent engagements include the completion of Verso Corporation's acquisition by BillerudKorsnäs and advising communications strategies for companies facing litigation and unionization efforts.
Phil previously worked in corporate communications at Walgreens, where he served as a company spokesman on myriad of topics including regulatory issues, litigation, M&A, and public affairs advocacy. In addition, he frequently practiced rapid response to mitigate operational, customer and other stakeholder issues emerging on social media or across a retail network of 9,000 stores throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Before joining Walgreens, Phil worked at Navistar International, where he focused on employee communications. Phil has also worked extensively with private investigative and security firms, where he advised on and executed public safety strategies for major special events. Phil began his career at the independent communications firm he co-founded out of college.
Phil holds a B.A. in Journalism from Marquette University. He resides in Chicago with his wife, Dean'na, and son, Declan.
