FGS Global’s UK Crisis Practice and Research & Insights team conducted research to understand businesses’ experience of crises and perceptions towards crisis management. The teams polled more than 500 senior decision makers from UK businesses and conducted in-depth interviews with some of the UK’s most respected business leaders.
The key findings include:
Businesses cite ransomware attacks; an economic crash and unexpected government policies and regulations in their top three crisis fears
More than 85% of businesses have experienced a crisis, with consensus indicating that crises are becoming more prevalent and unpredictable
The biggest concern of companies in a crisis remains the financial impact, with reputational impact and loss of employee trust further down the list
The data shows businesses lack confidence in their crisis preparedness
The findings also reveal that businesses are not sufficiently prepared for the crises they fear the most
Now, more than ever, businesses have a critical need for robust crisis leadership.
