The Select Committee also sent a formal inquiry to Nvidia over reporting that DeepSeek operates on tens of thousands of Nvidia chips and vowed to investigate the issue further.
TAKE IT DOWN Act Heads to House Floor: On April 8, the House Energy and Commerce Committee approved the TAKE IT DOWN Act, legislation that would criminalize the distribution of non-consensual, sexually exploitative images, including AI-generated deepfakes and mandate platforms to remove such content within 48 hours of receiving notice. The bill, which unanimously passed the Senate in February, is now headed for the House floor, where it is scheduled for consideration the week of April 28. If enacted, the legislation would be a notable success story for Congress, which has been slow to consider and pass AI bills since the innovation of ChatGPT in 2022.
